Emma Saylor’s mother died when she was twelve and she was never close with her mom’s side of the family. At sixteen, she finds herself spending the summer with her mother’s family who all live and work around a popular lake that attracts tourists. While awkward at first, Emma discovers she has a great deal in common with these relatives she hasn’t seen since she was very young. She also reconnects with Roo, a childhood friend who helps her see how her parents grew up quite differently and on opposite sides of North Lake.
